Operations Division

The Operations Division is the largest and most recognized area of North Lincoln Fire & Rescue.  Led by Assistant Chief Doug Kerr,  manages the day-to-day activities of NLF&R.

There are three major sections of the Operations Division: Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Water Rescue.

For the Fire Rescue side, all volunteer firefighters are certified firefighters by the State of Oregon.  Those that are not yet state-certified are required to attend the districts training academy.   For additional information about firefighting efforts in NLF&R, click on the Fire Operations link " Fire Operations ".

On the EMS side, each emergency unit has at least one paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician on board operating under the authority of the Department's Medical Director, DO. Erling Oksenholt.  All personnel are either Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) or Paramedics and respond to dozens of emergency medical calls every day, including heart attacks, allergic reactions, injuries from vehicle crashes and general illnesses. See the link for EMS Operations for more detailed information.

Lastly, there is a specific level of response for water rescue, and North Lincoln Fire & Rescue is responsible for one of the busiest water recreational areas on the Central Oregon Coast.  Fire Stations 1400 and 1600  are staffed with water rescue equipment and personnel. More information about NLF&R program can be found on the link below.

In 2005 North Lincoln Fire & Rescue  responded to 737 EMS Calls - 290 FireAlarms including Structure Fires, Vehicle Fires, Beach Fires and Burn Complaints - 186 Motor Vehicle Accidents, 30 Water Rescues and 49 Other Types of Calls, including Service Calls for a total of 1292  incident responses.

Many of the non-EMS responses by NLF&R include multiple companies:  for example, a response to a house fire starts with Two Engines, One Truck, One Rescue, and one Chief Officer.  This configuration of 2-1-1-1 is known as a "full complement."  The total number of unit responses for 2005 was 1,292.
